Spud was an Argente Campbell's male Russian Dwarf hamster. We do not know his birthday but he died in June 2007 and was around 3 years old. He belonged to Anastasia's school.
Spud's real name was Ginger, but he became known as Spud after Anastasia's friend said he looked like a 'potato on legs'! He started off as rather a vicious little man, as he had never been properly tamed and had a severe case of 'cage rage'. Due to this he had not been handled very much, but after Anastasia started at the school she cleaned him out regularly on Friday afternoons, and he was regularly handled until, when out of the cage, he was actually quite tame.
We often had him home during the school holidays, and so he became rather one of the family. We were all very sad when he passed on in June, and we will all miss him and his little 'boots' greatly.
