Peppermint was a cinnamon banded male Syrian hamster. He was born on 26th August 2002 and died on 26th February 2005. He was 2 and a half, which is a good age for a hamster.
Peppermint was a very special hamster as he was the first 'home made' hamster. We watched him and his litter growing up so this was special. He was a very tame hamster after being handled since he was a baby, and never bit anyone.
He loved to sit on the shelf in his Gabber Rex cage and 'meercat', where he sits still standing on his hind legs. He also enjoyed lots of out time and 'talking' with his brother Runty, who we also kept.
Peppermint had several stories written about him and his brothers and sisters (although in the stories they aren't brothers and sisters). Some of these can be found in the Hamster Fun Section. He was also the original 'Pop hammy', with his own song/rap, which went like this:
