Layla
Layla was a cinnamon banded female Syrian hamster. She was born in 1982 and died in 1983. She was given to Lynne and Iain by a Zoo keeper at Glasgow zoo (where Lynne worked). He had a male and a female needing rehoming, so they took them both in. Layla was pregnant when she came. The male (the father) was called Rolly.

Layla was named after a song by the Rolling Stones. Rolly was also named after the Rolling Stones. Layla and Rolly had a litter of 13 cream and cinnamon children. This was the very first Custard Hamstery litter! She loved caring for her children, and developed a taste for the baby food provided for them.
