Paws was a black-eyed cream satin male Syrian hamster. His full name was Pawaver Napoleon Custard! He was born on 22nd February 2006 and live to be 2 1/2 years old. His father was Nelson and his mother was Bailey. He was bred by us, Custard Hamstery.
Paws lived in a Gabber Rex cage. We saw him grow up from a tiny pink wriggler to a full grown glossy satin man! We called him Pawaver because, when he was a baby, we were looking the nest whilst mother Bailey was out getting food. Paws scrambled to the front of the nest and waved his paw at us! So from then on he was Pawaver!
Paws liked to run on his Wodent Wheel, and had an odd habit of going into the top of his playhouse and sitting really still with his eyes half closed! It worried us sometimes, as we thought he was dead, but really he was fine! He liked to sit still and be stroked, and his favourite food was cawliflower.
In September 2007 Paws went off to get 'married' to Caramel of Chocolate Hamstery. A short while later we brought home his son Napoleon, who is very similar to Pawsy in both looks and character.
Pawsy passed away in June 08 aged 2 1/2 years, of old age. He was a beautiful hamster and we are lucky we still have his son Napoleon to carry on his line. xx
In Memory of Paws
Silken: you raised one small paw and waved
Connected: I held you, a sunrise of golden softness
Perfection: a life shared, hearts intertwined
Replication: your children's glossy softness, your nature preserved
Drifting: between here and there, thistledown whisp
Separation: 'Go now' I said, you sighed with longing
One last wave, Goodbye my love
Together: two hearts now joined
Pawaver, you and I
