Nelson was a black-eyed cream male Syrian hamster. He was born on 6th March 2005 and was 2 1/2 years old when he died. He was the proud father of 8 children, and was the husband of Bailey. He died on 27th September 2007.
Nelson lived in a Gabber Rex cage. We got him from Crafty Skill Hamstery when he was 6 weeks old. He wa a real character, and entertained us greatly with his 'pancake creeps'! This was where he went really flat and crawled along really fast! His favourite foods were hamster porridge and lettuce. He became quieter and less active as he got older, but was still very lively.
Nelson, you were a gorgeous hamster with a brilliant temperament. You were a real character and never bit or scratched. You had 8 lovely children, and now grandchildren, and your memory will live on in them. R.I.P Nelly, you will never be forgotten.

The only one for me
Your big black eyes gazed from the tank,
As happy as can be,
We took you home and there you stayed
Our very first show ham
You won some firsts and seconds too,
A perfect little man,
Then came your wife, a cinnamon girl
Bailey was her name,
Now again you are together,
Playing hamster games,
A loving father of 8 little hams,
You watched as they grew up,
Now one of them is a father himself,
Yet you couldn’t meet the pups
A friendlier hamster there never was,
Than you, our beautiful Nel,
You stayed so active till the end
When you would go we never could tell,
If only you had stayed with us,
But we knew your time had come,
We will never forget you, beautiful Nel,
Loved by everyone.
